Caramel sauce in a jar

Caramel sauce, delicious in your coffee, with your brownie or other pastries, and not at all difficult to make at home. Ready-to-use caramel sauce often contains additives such as modified cornstarch, synthetic flavoring, and coloring. A shame because this sauce is so easy to make yourself with only a few ingredients.

If you have water, sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and butter at home, you can make your own delicious sauce without all those artificial additives. Better for your body and also much tastier!

Supplies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sugar (210 grams)
  • 1/4 cup of water (60 ml)
  • 6 tbsp of butter (75 grams)
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream (120 ml)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

How to make

  • Place a pan on your stove and add the sugar and water. Bring it to a boil.
  • When the sugar is boiling and golden brown, add the butter.
  • Stir the butter into the sugar until melted.
  • Add the vanilla extract and let it boil for about a minute.
  • Finally, add the cream and let it cook for another minute.
  • Let the sauce cool and add to your coffee or pastry.
  • Enjoy your homemade caramel sauce!

Tips

  • Add 1/8 tsp salt to make salted caramel sauce!

Equipment

  • 1 Small pot preferably heavy-bottomed
  • 1 whisk

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of granulated sugar 210 grams
  • ¼ cup of water 60 ml
  • 6 tbsp of unsalted butter 75 grams
  • ½ cup of heavy cream 120 ml
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Heat over medium heat without stirring—just swirl the pan occasionally.
  • Once the mixture turns a deep amber color, remove from the heat and whisk in 6 tablespoons of butter until melted.
  • Slowly pour 1/2 cup of heavy cream into the caramel while stirring constantly. Be careful—it will bubble up.
  • Finally, stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.

Notes

  • Add 1/8 tsp salt to make salted caramel sauce!
